Paul Myers is Canbriam`s President and Chief Executive Officer and is also a member of the Board of Directors. He is a 26 year veteran of the oil and gas industry with experience in North America, Europe, and West Africa. Paul’s primary focus has been in the Gulf of Mexico and the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
Prior to the formation of Canbriam, Paul was President and Chief Executive Officer of Esprit Energy Trust, where he was instrumental in an operational turn-around and divestiture to Pengrowth Energy Trust in October 2006. Prior to Esprit, Paul was accountable for building a Gulf of Mexico deepwater position for PanCanadian (EnCana). Before moving to Calgary in 2000, Paul was the Vice President, Exploration for Statoil Exploration US in Houston, TX. Paul also spent 10 years in various roles with Amoco Production Company in New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from Lehigh University, a Master of Science degree in Geology (Geophysics emphasis) from the University of Kansas, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Calgary.
Robert Froese is the Chief Financial Officer of Canbriam Energy Inc. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry with a strong background in capital markets. Prior to joining Canbriam in 2014, Robert was the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of NuVista Energy Ltd. from 2006 to 2014.
Robert has worked for a number of public oil and gas companies and in the investment banking industry, including eight years with Suncor Energy Inc. with his final role as Treasurer.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Gary Gardiner is Canbriam’s Chief Operating Officer. Gary has more than 30 years of oil and gas experience in both Canada and the U.S. and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta.
Before joining Canbriam, Gary served as the Chief Executive Officer of Mahalo Energy Ltd. for a 6 month transition period after the acquisition of Peregrine Energy Ltd. While at Peregrine Energy Ltd., he held the position of President & Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to joining Peregrine Energy, Gary was Vice President of the Fort Nelson Business Unit of EnCana Corporation, Vice President of the USA Northern Rockies Business Unit and held various leadership roles over his 9 year career with Alberta Energy Corporation/EnCana exploiting shallow gas, light oil and gas resource plays.
Prior to joining AEC in 1996, Gary worked at Home Oil, Suncor and the City of Medicine Hat in different engineering and leadership roles.
John Nieto is Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Canbriam Energy Inc.
John’s vision of technical integration has formed the foundation of Canbriam. He provides guidance on technological developments and ensures that internal technical knowledge, particularly in geology, petro physics and integrated reservoir characterization, remains at the top of the industry.
Prior to joining Canbriam John worked at Esprit Energy Trust as Vice President, Exploration. After a 14 year career with Mobil and ExxonMobil, John was global coordinator of formation evaluation for ExxonMobil, based in Houston. He then worked with Anadarko for 5 years, culminating in the position of Reservoir Characterization Manager in Houston.
He has more than 35 years of experience. John holds a B.Sc. degree (Dual Hons Geology) from London University and a D.M.T. from Camborne School of Mines (Geology).
John serves on the Board of Directors of Huron Resources Corp and is also on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Society of Unconventional Resources.
Donna Phillips has thirty years of professional experience in business with particular focus in the areas of finance, corporate planning, land negotiations, business development, government relations, stakeholder/community relations and Indigenous negotiations in the energy industry. Ms. Phillips is the Executive Vice President, Corporate Development of Canbriam Energy Inc. a company with an organic growth story now producing >30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Prior to joining Canbriam in 2007, Donna held the position of Director and Vice President, Land at Direct Energy/Centrica Canada Ltd. She began her oil and gas career in Finance at SaskOil, following which she worked in Corporate Planning, Asset Management and Land at Wascana Energy/CanOxy (now Nexen).
Ms. Phillips is a member of the Board of Directors for Geoscience BC. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers British Columbia Executive Policy Group and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen. She is President of the Petroleum Acquisition and Divestiture Association where she has been a board member since 2006.
Ms. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Regina and a CPA CMA certification.
Larry Cole joined Canbriam as controller in 2007 and was appointed Vice President, Finance in January of 2014.
Larry’s career includes tenure at Pengrowth Energy Trust, where he held the position of Manager of Financial Accounting and at Esprit Energy Trust, where he was the Manager of Financial Reporting. While at Esprit Energy Trust, he was part of the divestiture to Pengrowth Energy Trust. Larry also held the position of senior auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he earned his Chartered Accountant designation.
Larry holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Lethbridge.
Nauman Rasheed joined Canbriam in 2012 as Vice President, Facilities & Production. He has over 15 years of oil and natural gas industry experience and project management. Throughout his career, Nauman has taken on increasing responsibility in facilities, operations and leadership positions. Nauman has extensive experience in the planning and execution of operational enhancement and green-field infrastructure development projects.
Prior to joining Canbriam, Nauman served as Production and Operations Manager for the Western Canada Unconventional Business Unit at Pengrowth Energy Corp. He was responsible for managing oil, sour gas and shale gas operations in North Eastern British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Nauman has developed a track record for achieving results and leading high performing teams focused on continuous improvement and optimization.
Nauman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and Zoology from the University of Calgary and is a registered professional engineer with APEGA.
Graham Janega is Canbriam’s Vice President, Subsurface.
Graham joined Canbriam in 2013 as a drilling and completions engineer responsible for completions design and the optimization of over-pressured Montney wells. He was promoted to the position of Completions Manager in March of 2015 and was appointed Vice President, Subsurface in January of 2017.
Graham’s career includes tenure at Pengrowth Energy Trust where he was employed as a production engineer in the Olds and Judy Creek business units, primarily focused on the production optimization of both oil and gas wells. Graham was involved in Pengrowth’s development of the Garrington Cardium and Judy Creek Beaverhill Lake oil development plays. Prior to Pengrowth Graham worked as a reservoir engineer in the Central Alberta business unit at Shell Canada where he was involved in the development of critical sour gas fields in the Alberta foothills, including the company’s Panther River project.
Graham holds Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Calgary.
Art Flaws joined Canbriam in 2007 as Vice President, Drilling & Completions. Before joining Canbriam, Art served as the Chief Operating Officer of Mahalo Energy Ltd USA after the acquisition of Peregrine Energy Ltd. While at Peregrine Energy Ltd., he held the position of Vice President, Operations and was responsible for drilling, completions, facilities and production.
Prior to Peregrine, Art was Senior Exploitation Engineer with the Hythe/Cutbank Business Unit at EnCana Corporation where he helped develop the Doig play at Hythe and Cutbank Ridge and the Montney resource play in BC.
Prior to joining Encana, Art worked at Paramount Resources, Berkley Petroleum Corp and Petro-Canada.
Art holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Tech. and is a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.
Sean Brady joined Canbriam as Vice President, Corporate Planning in April 2014. He began his career working in the Middle East and South America for Schlumberger where he gained valuable experience as a senior field seismologist. Following this he worked for 12 years at Encana and Cenovus where he worked closely with the Executive Team and senior leadership on critical processes including long range planning, annual budgeting, and project approvals. During his time at Encana and Cenovus he supported a broad array of developments including shallow gas, tight oil, SAGD, polymer & C02 floods, and refining. Sean’s experience also includes international project evaluation and he was involved with the $2.1 billion disposition of the Encana Gulf of Mexico assets.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology from the University of London, a Masters of Science in Petroleum Geology from the University of Aberdeen, and a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
